UCL
The Biomedical Sciences are, without doubt, the most important and most fast moving of all the Sciences! Very recent advances in genome sequencing, genome editing and our understanding of the workings of the body have had
incredible impacts on society - witness the incredible speed by which a vaccine against Covid-19 infection has been actioned. These impacts are huge, both in terms of the economy but also in terms of their impact on society. In this
summer school, you will find out more about the cutting-edge of the Biomedical Sciences. We shall investigate the Biosciences at the macro-level, at the micro-level and at the molecular-level.
The Summer School, will include a mixture of online and face to face sessions as well as independent reading of cutting-edge research. You’ll be expected to take good notes throughout the week, as students will be asked to present what they have found out and their personal reflections of the school. At the end of the Summer School, you will have a better understanding of what Biosciences research involves at a University level and, hopefully, you will want to continue your studies to do a Biosciences degree!
