I applied to the program after I applied to the Hull-York WP program and despite getting rejected from there I was accepted...I applied to the Summer School to explore what universities are really like as I will be the first generation in my family to attend university.
At first, I was nervous and worried about how I would adapt to the programme being virtual. However, the hangout nights we had were amazing as everyone on the Summer School got to know each other more. It was refreshing especially during a pandemic where we lost so much contact with the outside world. Over the course of the week, I became more confident when it came to speaking in front of people virtually.
The Sutton Trust website was extremely useful. I used it throughout the programme and when I started writing up my personal statement and applying to university.
The Summer School confirmed for me that I want to go to University to study Economics. After graduating I want to go into consulting and maybe even do a Masters and PhD.
Overall, the Summer School has given me so much confidence with my university choices!
