I come from a small rural area in Gloucester and jumped at the chance to apply for the programme to make connections and gain some experience of what university is like. From my experience with online teaching, I was initially worried about the Summer School at Cardiff University being run online. However, I really enjoyed the online experience of the Summer School.
A highlight for me was meeting lots of new people at the online social events, from having an escape room to a film night. I also developed self-esteem through the medical case studies I encountered and now feel confident throughout every section of my university application.
In the future, I want to be a doctor and don’t think I’d feel quite as prepared for my future if I hadn’t been able to take part in this programme!
