I applied to the program after I applied to the Hull-York WP program and despite getting rejected from there I was accepted...I applied for this programme as I wanted to have more interaction with my subjects beyond the classroom and see how life was for students in my university degree of interest. I had many questions when I listened to lectures online from Imperial College London and other universities, so it was lovely to ask questions to academics in the Earth Science Department!
Before the programme, I was slightly nervous, but excited! I couldn’t wait to meet like-minded people with similar aspirations for higher education. I hadn’t seen much of Earth and Planetary Science content online, so having an entire week of content really blew me away and left me pleasantly surprised.
What sticks out the most during the programme was probably working on a group project, and much of the insightful wisdom of Professor Lord Robert Winston on science and its place in society.
The programme really exceeded my expectations, and the Summer School has a special place in my heart.
