Mathematics: Edinburgh has a rich history of teaching mathematics and is currently ranked top 5 in the UK for mathematics teaching (QS 2024). As part of the Maxwell Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Edinburgh forms one of the UK's leading research centres in mathematics. Join our expert academic staff and students for a week of fascinating subject work on our dedicated STEM campus!
Previous summer school topics include Monte Carlo simulations, machine learning, maths within magic, number theory, integer solutions to Diophantine equations, probabalistic & positional games (incl. Markov chains), graph theory, primality testing, statistics, and differential equations.
Engineering: Engineering at Edinburgh has a long and distinguished history, and a vibrant and successful present. Balancing technical depth with practical learning, students will explore various specialities including chemical, civil & environmental, electronic & electrical, mechanical and general engineering courses. Currently ranked top 10 in the UK for Engineering & Technology (QS 2024), Edinburgh has something for everyone!
Previous summer school topics include fire lab experiments, bridge building, laser technologies, drones & artificial intelligence, soldering & constructing electronic gadgets, deployable structures, wind energy, biomedical engineering, and robotics.
