Entry requirements

Have attained a minimum of GCSE grade 7 or National 5 grade B in English Language, History and Maths.

This is a highly academic course where you will be engaging with new content. You should be ready to explore new topics and be challenged throughout the week.

The week will include:
• Lectures on a variety of topics, previous years have included sessions on computational archaeology, palaeolithic stone tools, and the ancient Egyptian language.
• Practical sessions with hands on exposure to archaeological finds.
• Research activities with access to the Haddon library.

You should apply for this subject if…
• You enjoy learning about the origins of our species using real life tangible evidence.
• You would like to find out more about how archaeological research is conducted.
• You are interested in language, science, history, culture and how these themes are brought together.

You shouldn’t apply if…
• You are more interested in a different period of history – in which case please consider applying for the more general history stream of the summer school.

You will leave the week with:
• A better understanding of how Archaeology, Assyriology, Egyptology and Biological Anthropology is studied at university.
• The beginnings of a piece of research which you can continue developing.
