Entry requirements

Have attained a minimum of GCSE grade 7 or National 5 grade B in Maths and a science. In addition, students must also currently be studying at least two STEM subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or Further Mathematics) at A Level, IB Higher Level, Scottish Highers or equivalent.

This is a highly academic course where you will be engaging with new content. You should be ready to explore new topics and be challenged throughout the week.

The week will include:
• Problem solving sessions.
• An escape room activity.
• Small group supervision sessions.
• Academic content on wide range of scientific subjects from Botany and Ecology to Psychology and Zoology, and many others besides.
• Practical, laboratory-based learning.

You should apply for this subject if…
• You would like an introduction to scientific subjects and what it would be like to study them at university.
• You are interested in developing your biological thinking skills.
• You are keen to get stuck in and interact with other students and academic staff with and interest in these areas.

You shouldn’t apply if…
• You are more interested in medicine or biochemistry – there will be minimal focus on these topics on this stream so please consider either the medicine or biochemistry streams respectively.
• You do not currently enjoy studying science in school – particularly Biology.

You will leave the week with:
• A better understanding of what it would be like to study a scientific subject at university.
• A picture of the steps of the admissions process for a scientific subject.
• Increased awareness of animals, plants and humans.
