Please also feel free to explore the podcast found here for an alternative topic.

This is a highly academic course where you will be engaging with new content. You should be ready to explore new topics and be challenged throughout the week.

The week will include:
• Lectures on a wide range of subjects, previous years have included topics such as; the history of maps, finding evidence of ‘ordinary’ people in medieval texts, and art and religion in the Abrahamic faiths.
• Museum and/or field visits.
• A visit to the university library.

You should apply for this subject if…
• You are interested in exploring new areas of history that you may not have got the chance to discover in school.
• You would like to learn more about a broad spectrum of historical figures.
• You would like the chance to engage critically with historical media and texts.

You shouldn’t apply if…
• You are not interested in a broad overview of historical topics and would prefer to focus on more specific topics such as the history of Asia and the Middle East of the History of Art. If this is the case, consider applying to one of those streams instead.

• An opportunity to interact with other students and academics who are also interested in the subject of history.
