University of Cambridge
The Sutton Trust Mathematics summer school aims to give you a flavour of university style mathematics, introduce you to some exciting new areas of maths beyond the school curriculum, and help you to develop the mathematical thinking skills you will need at university. Delivered by Cambridge academics and postgraduate students, the summer school includes a mix of workshops, problem-solving sessions, lectures and ‘tasters’ of Cambridge supervisions – intensive small-group tutorial sessions. Workshops are demanding, and students who only take single Maths A level are welcome, but may find the pace more difficult to cope with. These sessions will explore ideas from elementary combinatorics and show how to use these ideas to solve problems associated with probability. Lectures by experts in their fields aim to give you a taste of a variety of topics from the undergraduate course - previous summer school lectures have ranged from combinatorics to mathematical biology and theoretical physics.
