Why did you apply for the programme?
I applied to the programme to try and get a better understanding of what university and student life was like, as well as to try to decide whether I want to do computing or engineering for my degree.
What were your highlights of the programme?
Since participating in the programme, I have gained a better understanding of what university life is like and gained a lot of confidence to meet new people and talk to them. My highlight was meeting new people and getting to know them to become good friends with a couple of them this was done through a variety of social activities. I was always shy and didn’t think I would take part in a full capacity but fully engaging and talking to people through fun activities was definitely one of the best parts of the week. I also really enjoyed the hands-on engineering activities as this was not only fun but gave you a sense of what engineering would be like.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan on applying to University and will hopefully get accepted to do a form of computer science at university.
If you could go back in time, what would you say to your younger self?
If I could meet my younger self, I would say be more outgoing and put yourself into new situations where you are challenged to talk to and meet new people, because however scary or awkward you think it may be, it will boost your confidence and you will definitely not only have experiences that you will never forget, but you will make very good friends and meet interesting people.
