Chemistry: Chemistry has been taught at Edinburgh since 1713; that's over 300 years of fundamental contributions to chemistry theory and practice! As one of the top 10 UK universities for chemistry (QS 2022), our degree programmes reflect the breadth and diversity of the many global challenges that chemistry has a central role in solving, such as climate change, health and the environment. Previous summer school topics include medicinal chemistry, smartphone spectroscopy, climate change, chemistry in household items, and lots of hands-on experiments!
Engineering: Engineering at Edinburgh has a long and distinguished history, and a vibrant and successful present. Balancing technical depth with practical learning, students explore various specialities including chemical, civil & environmental, electronic & electrical, mechanical and general engineering courses. Currently ranked top 10 in the UK for Engineering & Technology, Edinburgh has something for everyone! Previous summer school topics include bridge building, laser technologies, drones & artificial intelligence, soldering & constructing electronic gadgets, wind energy, biomedical engineering, and robotics.
