Chemistry has been taught at The University of Edinburgh since 1713; that's over 300 years of fundamental contributions to chemistry theory and practice! As one of the top 10 UK universities for chemistry (QS 2021), our degree programmes reflect the breadth and diversity of the many global challenges that chemistry has a central role in solving, such as climate change, health and the environment. Previous summer school topics include medicinal chemistry, smartphone spectroscopy, saving the environment, chemistry in household items, and lots of hands-on experiments! You will explore the many facets of chemistry through a mixture of lectures, tutorials, engaging group projects, and laboratory experiments. Our renowned team of academic staff and current students will work with you to explore various topics designed to develop your analytical and problem-solving skills, and have fun along the way!
Engineering at The University of Edinburgh has a long and distinguished history, and a vibrant and successful present. Balancing technical depth with practical learning, students explore various specialities including chemical, civil & environmental, electronic & electrical, mechanical and general engineering courses. You will work with our renowned team of academics and current students on both theoretical and practical work in lectures, tutorials, exciting group projects, and practical lab work. Previous summer school topics include bridge building, laser technologies, drones and artificial intelligence, electronic circuits, biomedical engineering, and robotics.
You will also have the opportunity to try out several other subjects during the subject taster sessions, which reflects the flexibility of the Scottish higher education system.
