Computer Science (Informatics): Edinburgh is proud to house Europe’s largest Informatics research centre, and is currently ranked 4th in the UK and top 20 in the WORLD for Computer Science (QS 2024). Computer Science (Informatics) is the study of information, computation and communication in artificial intelligence systems (e.g. computers) and in natural systems (e.g. brains, genes, living cells). Explore a huge variety of topics in exciting interactive classes...you may even get to build your own working robot!
Previous summer school topics include cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and machine learning, robotics, software engineering, bioinformatics, and alien language translation.
Physics: Currently ranked 1st in Scotland and 6th in the UK for physics & astronomy (QS 2024), Edinburgh hosts one of the leading physics departments in the UK. With innovative teaching labs and the UK-leading Royal Observatory nearby, Edinburgh is the perfect place to explore all areas of physics this summer from the smallest particles, to the structure of the universe.
Previous summer school topics include dark matter & exoplanet exploration, particle physics (Higgs Boson), astrobiology, computational physics, statistical physics, and lots of hands-on experiments in our state of the art laboratories!
