University of Edinburgh
Study two subjects at Edinburgh and pick one to specialise in for an exciting project day!
Politics & International Relations: Home to the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh has strong foundations in politics and political study. As Scotland's top university and a top 10 UK university for politics and international relations, Edinburgh offers a wide variety of topics and expertise (QS 2022).
Throughout the summer school, you will explore the contexts of domestic and international conflicts about power and resources, the morality of political action, the limits of freedom and justice, and the processes of governance at various levels. You will work with our renowned team of academic staff and students to deepen your understanding of the subject through lectures, tutorial discussions, and insightful group projects. Previous summer school topics include modern US politics, Brexit & British politics, the Ukraine conflict, democracy & public participation, UK devolution, climate justice, Russian foreign policy, and writing constitutions/party manifestos.
Languages, Literatures & Cultures: Learn new languages and explore fascinating cultures this summer! You do not need any language experience to take part, as we will start with the basics in new and exciting languages. If you are already adept at languages, we will certainly have a new language you have not tried before.
Edinburgh offers one of the widest range of languages of any UK university, and is currently ranked 3rd in the UK and top 10 in the world for modern languages (QS 2022). Indeed, we are the only Scottish university to offer courses in Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Persian, Turkish, and Scandinavian Studies.
Throughout the summer school, you will learn a new language from scratch and explore various aspects of culture (film, literature, music, festivals, history, art, theatre) with our fantastic team of academic staff and current students. Previous languages and cultures taught at the summer school include Portuguese, Arabic, Italian, Japanese, Russian, German, and Cantonese.
Join us this summer for an "unforgettable" experience that is "educational, fun and awesome!" (2022 Summer School Graduate feedback).
