Experience life as a Durham student
Living in one of our 17 colleges for the week, our summer school students get an genuine insight into life as a Durham student. You can take part in one of our twenty-five captivating subject strands, working alongside academics, to explore some of Durham’s exciting research. Alongside this, the programme includes a vast range of social activities and a formal dinner on the final evening to mirror the experiences of first year students.
Guaranteed conditional offer
If you pass the assessed project you will be eligible to receive a guaranteed conditional offer (with alternative grade requirements) for the relevant programme you studied on the Summer School, as long as you are studying the correct pre-requisite subjects. By alternative grade requirements, we mean that the potential offer would be at least two grades lower than the typical offer (e.g. ABB instead of AAA). If you successfully gain a place at the Summer School you will be provided with full details regarding this, including terms and conditions, with your acceptance letter.
You will also have the opportunity to develop a variety of skills from teamwork and leadership to presentation and communication skills, as well as other student favourites such as budgeting and time-management. Often you will develop these skills simply by taking part in the programme but we also run a number of dedicated information, advice and guidance sessions, talks, and workshops to help focus your thinking.
